Summary

Nostalgia and Crime
Margery Allingham created an unusual amateur sleuth in Campion. He moves in a society we no longer have and it is a delight to read about it. The crimes he solves are intriguing and in this case peopled by eccentrics which adds a touch of humour.

Narration to awful to treat seriously .
If this narration wasn’t so ludicrously funny it would be possible to hear just how silly the book is . So glad it only cost me three pounds odd .

Margery Margery Margery you are a Master
What a beautifully crafted piece, loved all of it what nuanced irony and so atmospheric.
Would love to hear more of Belle Darling with Campion.

Ran out of............
Death of a Ghost started off really well, but then it was as if the author ran out of ideas and couldn't think of a good ending. mid way through it began to ramble and the ending was weak (I won't say anymore for new readers).
I do enjoy these gentle detective mysteries and I will try some of the earlier books when, perhaps ,the author still has fresh
ideas ?

Brilliant Narrator!
Francis Matthews is possibly the best narrator I've ever had the pleasure to listen to. It helped that the book was a brilliant story. A thoroughly excellent listen!

great story
I enjoyed the writing and the story was very good - clever and with good twists. Some very good characters though Mr Campion himself was probably the least interesting and well written character in the book..really his presence added little to it. First of these books I've listened to but I'll definitely listen to more
