Summary

From New York Times best-selling author Kendall Ryan comes a second chance romance about a hotshot quarterback and the one girl who isn't falling for his game.

I broke her heart 10 years ago and left town.

She hates me, and rightly so. It doesn’t matter that the rest of the country loves me, that I’m a starting quarterback with a multimillion-dollar contract. Because when I look in the mirror, all I see is a failure who was too young - and too afraid - to fight for what I wanted.

But I’m not that guy anymore, and all I need is one shot to convince her.

***

He has no idea what happened after he left. And now I’m supposed to work alongside him like we don’t have this huge, messy history?

But I’m older now, wiser, and I won’t let anything stand in my way of doing a good job for this league. Not even one overpaid, arrogant player who thinks we’re going to kiss and make up.

News flash, buddy: I am over you.

Another doormat

If you like stories where the heroine is a doormat, and the hero is a self centered man-child, then this story is for you. I do believe in second chances, specially when the snafu happens when the main characters are young. But after they grow up? There is no reason for them not to learn from their past mistakes, or from life in general. I cannot get past the way the supposed “hero" behaves after 10 years have gone by. He even acts more immature than when he was younger. He doesn't take responsibility for his actions until some drama unfurls by the end of the book. And the way the “heroine(?)” who is supposed to be in such position of power keeps taking it all, is definitely most annoying. Second chances yes, third chances... Hell-to-the-NO!. Also, the story is not even the 6 hours 23 min it is supposed to be. After the epilogue, there are a few chapters from another book that count for almost 1 and 1/2 hrs. Once again I find myself among the negative minority. The one positive thing for me in this story was the narration - Andy Arndt and Sebastian York are always a pleasure to listen to.

One of my favorite Kendall Ryan audiobooks!

I've listened to quite a few of Kendall Ryan's audiobooks this year, but I confess that there's only been a couple that I've truly loved so far this year--one of which just happens to be on my list of favorite listens for 2018. Well, Dear Jane was definitely one that I fell in love with. This was a romance that didn't feel rushed, with two main characters who were well threshed out, allowing me to really get to know them. I loved that Jane was such an independent woman, and I totally understood where she was coming from when she learned that her ex was going to be returning to their hometown of Chicago to be part of the team she loved. I'm glad that she wasn't so easily swayed by Wes, and that Wes did have to work a bit harder than he may have expected to win her trust back, what more her affection. As always, Andi Arndt and Sebastian York showcase why they're one of the best narrating duos out there. They brought Wes and Jane to life and in impressive fashion that perfectly matched Kendall Ryan's fab writing. Dear Jane gets five stars. ♥

Trials and Tribulations of reconnecting with your first love

This romance has top notch narration and a cute epilogue but not much else. It has little to no character development, no real plot- just a couple of scenes strung together and aside from the time the couple broke apart in high school/college no real depth or communication in their interactions. They seem to have thus superficial relationship where they frequently intersect and then go their separate ways while claiming they want to do for the other. Not worth a credit but the narration and general premise make it an obvious choice for the Romance Package.

Good sports romance!

This was an enjoyable listen, with high school sweethearts reunited when he is traded from his NFL team to the team her father coaches. There was a bad breakup when he left to go play college football, but there’s a lot that he’s clueless about. They find themselves still drawn to each other and slowly they rekindle their romance. But when he decides he needs to back off after he learns what really happened years ago, will history repeat itself or can they ever make their relationship work? Narration was excellent!

Jane and Weston are amazing!

The last person Jane expects to walk through the door is Weston Chase. For ten years, she's been able to put him out of her mind. But when her father hires him to be the starting quarterback it's inevitable she will have to interact with him at some point. She can at least hope to avoid him, right?

I completely love the world Kendall Ryan created in this story. I never wanted it to end. The characters were believable and I felt a wealth of emotions as I experienced this. Jane and Weston's chemistry was off the charts and I fell in love with them instantly.

PS - Sebastian York and Andi Arndt were phenomenal in their performance of this story. Kendall + Sebastian + Andi = AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!! Do not miss this!
