About this listen
At first, the great Were revelation seems to go well - then the horribly mutilated body of a were-panther is found outside Merlotte's. Though Sookie never cared that much for the victim, no one deserves such a horrible death, so she agrees to use her telepathic talent to track down the murderer.
But what Sookie doesn't realise is that there is a far greater danger than this killer threatening Bon Temps: a race of unhuman beings, older, more powerful and far more secretive than the vampires or the werewolves is preparing for war....

She has the perfect Sookie voice and I look forward to hearing her beautiful deep south accent.Any additional comments?
Sookie starts out pretty happy in this book because her relationship with Eric Northman finally gets back to the bedroom. Her happiness doesn’t last long and when she finds her sister-in-law dead and crucified in the parking lot she knows it’s bound to be followed by more heartache, and she’s not wrong. The fairies take a prominent role in this book and not in a good way. Sookie has to sharpen her tools, literally, and is dragged into the war between her fairy grandfather and his enemies. This instalment of the Stackhouse novels is a highly emotional one and full of action, violence, and loss. Keep the tissues handy.

I have got really sucked in to the stories about our heroine -depite being pure fantasy the characters are so well constructed and believable. Sookies adventures seem to also follow a plausible path and the narration by Johanna Parker really brings the books to life - this one is no exception. Its a bit darker than some of the predecessors and although there is some humour this one doesnt have many laugh out loud moments. But its still a gripping listen as you wonder what is going to happen to poor Sookie and her friends (and enemes ) next. Its a real page turner - or whatever the Audio equivalent is
I do find the books much better than the TV series and a great way to while away the hours whilst driving up and down the motorways
Another great story and really well narrated

What made the experience of listening to Dead and Gone the most enjoyable?
fast moving plot and great charactersWhat other book might you compare Dead and Gone to, and why?
The other books in the series.....for obvious reasonsWhat does Johanna Parker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
Her narration makes you feel more involved in the story as she sounds as I'd imagine Sookie to sound. She also reads at a good pace and with definite and appropriate changes in cadence, so that you stay connected and don't get bored. If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Don't go out in the woods today!Any additional comments?
