His hero, Roy Grace, may not be the most lively cop, nor the most damaged by drink, weight or misery, but he's one of the most believable

Not my favourite Grace because it’s too gory and graphic in its depiction of serial sexual assaults. Not much on the Sandy saga in this episode either…

Peter James delivers another gripping installment in the Roy Grace series with Dead Like You. The plot is expertly crafted, blending chilling suspense with sharp police procedural detail. What truly elevates this audiobook, however, is Daniel Weyman’s exceptional narration. His voice brings each character to life with clarity and nuance, perfectly capturing the tension and emotional depth of the story. Weyman’s pacing and tone make it impossible to pause—an absolute masterclass in audiobook narration. A must-listen for crime thriller fans.

Great narration once again and excellent descriptions of Brighton and the surrounding area. I also like the character of Grace and the very credible explanations of how policing is done. However, I find James’ description of female characters less successful. The women swerve between whiny or subjugated. He is not good at the female narrative voice either, and I found the overt descriptions of rape gratuitous and formulaic with a variation of the same scene over and over. Frankly, I got a bit bored.
