Not somewhere you can murder someone and vanish without a trace - only that's what happened. Summary
Welcome to Midnight, Texas. It's a quiet little town, perched at the junction between Davy Road and Witch Light Road, and it's easy to miss. With its boarded-up windows, single traffic light, and sleepy air, there's nothing special about Midnight...which is exactly how the residents like it.
So when the news comes that a new owner plans to renovate the run-down, abandoned old hotel in town, it's not met with pleasure. Who would want to come to Midnight, with its handful of shops, the Home Cookin diner, and quiet residents - and why? But there are bigger problems in the air.
When Manfred Bernado, the newest resident in town, is swept up in a deadly investigation, suddenly the hotel and its residents are the least of the town's concern. The police, lawyers, and journalists are all headed to Midnight, and it's the worst possible moment....

More entertainment
Book 2 of the series, provides more entertainment from the residents of Midnight.
We're getting to know the characters a little better, and a few more secrets are revealed, although there is certainly more to come...... Also, a couple of familiar faces from Bon Temps pop in.
Mr Snuggly might just be stealing the show for me - the narration, plus his attitude, always makes me grin in those scenes (perhaps I'm just easily entertained!?).
I hope the series continues with this pace and humour. Although it is somewhat predictable (especially if you've read the True Blood series), it's still good, fun stuff, and a nice dose of light-hearted entertainment is exactly what I was in the mood for.
(nb- this is one of those series which although you could get away with joining midway through, you'd be far better off starting at the beginning to get the most out of it)
Roll on book 3!

Disappointing
This book was odd. Loads happened, yet nothing really happened at all, and there were far too many loose-ends for me. It felt like the story should have continued in order to wrap a few of these things up, or at least explain them. To me it just felt like this whole book was solely about setting up the next one. As such it left me rather disappointed, and a little annoyed.
The narrator was good. I particularly like the way she portrays Mr Snuggly.
