 In Trondheim wird die Sekretärin Vibeke Ordal ermordet in ihrer Wohnung aufgefunden. Vier Wochen später - Kommissar Kolbjørnsen tritt bei den Ermittlungen auf der Stelle - geschieht ein zweiter Mord. Das Opfer ist die junge Schriftstellerin Miriam Malme. Auch ihr wurde, wie schon bei Vibeke Ordal, die Halsschlagader durchgetrennt. "Sie war die Zweite".
