About this listen

When a young woman's body is discovered on a popular jogging trail in Birmingham, Detective Inspector Bernard Watts and his team are plunged into a disturbing murder investigation. Not only has the woman been violently stabbed - her head is missing.

When a close examination of the crime scene results in a shocking discovery linking the present murder to a past crime, criminologist Will Traynor is brought in to assist the police. Aware of Traynor's troubled past, Watts is sceptical that he will bring anything useful to the investigation.

He's about to be proved very wrong....

This is an excellent and thoroughly engaging story of an older DI Watt who has the young PC Judd foisted upon him, I was a bit unclear about why he had no DC to work with but that was not much of a bother really, young Judd is a bit of a handful and makes for entertaining listening as she behaves like an overeager kid and winds DI Watt up something rotten.

The story is rather involved and intriguing, lots of twists of turns to keep it interesting, Mr Traynor does play a part but he's not the main character so I'd be interested to see how this series evolves, I just hope it includes DI Watt and DC Judd, they are hilarious and make a great team.

Mark Meadows does a fabulous job with the narration too, so all in all, this is great, buy it now (assuming you like crime thrillers and did not stumble over this by mistake).

Intriguing story

This is the second book I have listened to and I must admit I will reread this one again later as I am sure there are bits I have not taken in. The two main characters carried the story with intrigue. I hope they come together in another story.

A very interesting read that you have to listen carefully to
