Summary

This is a contemporary story during the time period after napoleonic wars in the highlands and islands of Scotland. This is very unique story that talks about the battle field experiences and Set in the Inner Hebrides in Napoleonic times, this story tells how, on the eve of the battle of Waterloo, Finlay MacBride, the pastor of the Isle of Erismore lies dying in a Flanders barn. Before he dies he delivers a final message to Aeneas Graham, and asks him to save the people of Erismore. And this shows human conflicts their promises and understanding, thoughts about the battle. This is Dark Island begins as the Napoleonic wars are drawing to a close. The year is 1815. On the battlefield near Waterloo, a surgeon-major in the Highland Brigade tends the mortally wounded padre. When the wars are over, to honor a promise to his dying friend, Aeneas Graham, the surgeon journeys to a remote Hebridean island called Erismore. This audio book is very unique story line that is well constructed story and great characters, very believable till the end. This is fascinating story that gives us a new dimension to thoughts and ideas of our men kind behavior. I took in so much more as it was alive with evocative sound effects and music. Brought to life on audio book it really is worth a visit I find in this book such a Good stuff, this powerful and gripping story by Nigel Tranter was originally published under the title Island Twilight.
