Summary

Brighton, 1975: A working-class Boston neighbourhood is simmering with violence and racial tension.

Fifteen-year-old Kevin Pearce gets caught up in Brighton's undertow and a crime that forces him to flee the city. Twenty-seven years later, Kevin returns after winning the Pulitzer Prize for an article on the wrongful conviction of a man from Brighton.

But when he's asked for his advice on a murder case, he's plunged into a web of deception which will test his loyalties to the limit.

Critic reviews

"Brighton is a masterpiece of crime fiction, filled with fascinating characters and sparkling dialogue and visceral atmosphere and riveting tensions, plus no shortage of terrific twists." (Chris Pavone, New York Times best-selling author of The Expats)

Struggle to get going

Long intro set in the 1970's made me nearly quit. Didn't care for any character.
