This profound and striking narrative takes the form of a series of letters from Screwtape, a devil high in the Infernal Civil Service, to his nephew Wormwood, a junior colleague engaged in his first mission on Earth trying to secure the damnation of a young man who has just become a Christian. Although the young man initially looks to be a willing victim, he changes his ways and is ‘lost’ to the young devil.

Story
On May 8, 1373, 30-year-old Julian of Norwich, sick and near death, had a series of visions of Christ. In these 16 visions she learnt about God's loving nature. God in Julian's visions was not angry and wrathful. Instead, the three properties of God were presented as life, love and light, and all of His creation was good, including his servant, man. In Julian's version, Man is not to blame for his sin; instead it is something that he must experience and overcome in his spiritual journey with God.

Story
A fresh, challenging and compassionate response to busyness, based on the way of life Jesus offered his disciples. Who are you becoming? That was the question nagging pastor and author John Mark Comer. By outward metrics, everything appeared successful. But inwardly, things weren't pretty. So he turned to a trusted mentor for guidance and heard these words: 'Ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life. Hurry is the great enemy of the spiritual life.' It wasn't the response he expected, but it continues to be the answer he needs.

In an era in which many Christians consider Jesus a beloved but remote savior, Willard argues compellingly for the relevance of God to every aspect of our existence. Masterfully capturing the central insights of Christ's teachings in a fresh way for today's seekers, he helps us to explore a revolutionary way to experience God by knowing him as an essential part of the here and now, rather than only as part of the hereafter.

One of the most important books I've ever read
- By A. F. Galbraith on 18-03-16
Summary
Ever since he became a Christian at the age of forty, it has been Poirot actor David Suchet's dream to make an audio recording of the whole Bible. In between filming the final episodes of Poirot, David Suchet spent over 200 hours in the recording studio to create the very first full-length audio version of the NIV Bible spoken by a single British actor.
Volume 2 of the NIV Audio Bible includes the Prophets, Gospels, Acts and Letters, covering the books of Isaiah to Revelation.
PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying index to books and chapters will be available in your My Library section along with the audio.
The NIV Audio Bible is also available as an app. The app contains the full text of the New International Version (British Text), so you can easily navigate the audio or read and listen at the same time.

Great reading - and an index!
What did you like most about Complete NIV Audio Bible?
I have a couple of other Audible Bibles and this is by far the best. David Suchet is a great reader. In addition, there is no background music, which is a surprisingly big bonus. When listening to the Bible with music in the background, it quickly feels very repetitive. Probably the best bit of this audio Bible is that the chapters match the chapters in the books and there is an index document provided. In the past, I have spent ages trying to find a particular passage in other audio Bibles. Now it's easy!
What about David Suchet’s performance did you like?
David Suchet has a wonderful reading voice and the reading is unhurried and clear. You can (if you want) listen at double speed and it is still clear. Perhaps it could become soporific, but that's not always a bad thing!
Any additional comments?
If you are an Audible Member with a monthly plan and you buy using credits, make sure you buy the two half Bibles (2 credits) rather than the 8 smaller sections (8 credits).

None

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Any additional comments?
If you buy this audiobook you will be surprised to find that all the chapters on the audio are only identified by a list of chapters from 1-510. Yes, really. No mention of the individual prophets or New Testament writers. To find out where, say, you access Ezekiel 15 you have to look it up on an accompanying list sent as a pdf. Hardly handy if you are listening on a country walk! My use of this audiobook has been greatly improved by putting bookmarks at the start of each book. A time consuming effort but worth it. What a pity that the producers of this audiobook did not stop to think, or take advice, on how its listeners might wish to make use of this valuable resource. The Bible is not a book in which one begins in Genesis and keeps going. Well, not usually anyway. Quick, easy access to each individual book is vital. 'Chapter 294' is an almost worthless signifier unless you have a very mathematical brain and can work out that that is Mark 16 or you are able to carry sheets of A4 paper with you everywhere that lists the chapter numbers. Btw if you are trying to find a particular chapter and use the pdf that accompanies the audiobook, the chapters given are incorrect by one digit. If you want Revelation 1 don't go to chapter 490 as per the list: go to 489 instead. It is a petty that despite other comments similar to mine there has been no amendment or modification to the crass system that was initially put in place with this otherwise excellent work. Even with the bookmarks it is still tricky finding a specific chapter in a lengthy prophet like Isaiah. I suppose I should bookmark each of the 66 chapters individually!

Great Narration, poor editing
David Suchet is a great narrator for the bible, and this is an excellent recording. However I am stunned that there are no bible book names used for chapter headings, only continuous numbers right the way through from Genusis to Revelation. This makes it impossible to find a particular book and chapter you would like to listen to, (unless you go through and bookmark them all yourself), in the same you you might read a paper bible. Barmy!

Great reading, awful organization
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Like all the other reviews say, this is a really fantastic reading of the bible, but audible have put no thought whatsoever into it's organization.
The books chapters aren't labeled, and don't even match up with bible chapters (i.e you can sometimes have the end of one book and the beginning of the next one in the same chapter).
There is a pdf which lists out the books to chapters, but it's a separate pdf and not viable on your mobile.
Who was your favorite character and why?
.... god? .... it's supposed to be his book after all
What about David Suchet’s performance did you like?
To be honest its a more or less faultless reading, great diction intonation etc
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Complete NIV Audio Bible?
I'd fix the chapters!
it really shouldn't be hard, even if it can't go into the detail of specific verses, splitting each biblical book into a multi-part download would allow them to be sorted individually and then the chapter numbers could at least match up with the ones in the bible

So where are the Book Markers!!????
Is there anything you would change about this book?
So you hire David Suchet to read the entire Bible and he does a Magnificent job as you would expect. Then you package it all up and decide not to put in any labels on the chapter makers. This is the Bible, a collection of BOOKS and those books have Chapters and verses. now if you want to listen to lets say the book of John, you have to Guess where it is and what chapter to jump to.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, add correct labelling to the Chapter markers so they reflect the book they are jumping to.
Probably the best read Bible audio book, let down by the implementation of the editing and compilation of the audiobooks themselves.

Great for walking the dog!
Where does Complete NIV Audio Bible rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Good performance from David Suchet, easy listening.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Complete NIV Audio Bible?
Although I have needed to put in the bookmarks for the books manually, now that that is done, it is easy to navigate to chapter 1 of each book, although you could easily bookmark every 5th book.
Which character – as performed by David Suchet – was your favourite?
Impossible to say, given that it is the Bible. I used to listen to the bible through my bible app but it required a data connection, so having this downloaded makes for easy listening.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. I have been doing HTBs BIOY app, but sometimes I get behind and need to catchup, listening as I drive, run or walk the dog. Also listening and then reading through helps me to focus and reflect on what I am reading.
Any additional comments?
Great audio bible, no regrets.
