Summary

Stuart MacBride's number one best-selling crime series opens with this award-winning debut.

DS Logan McRae and the police in Aberdeen hunt a child killer who stalks the frozen streets.

Winter in Aberdeen: murder, mayhem and terrible weather...

It's DS Logan McRae's first day back on the job after a year off on the sick, and it couldn't get much worse. Three-year-old David Reid's body is discovered in a ditch: strangled, mutilated and a long time dead. And he's only the first. There's a serial killer stalking the Granite City, and the local media are baying for blood.

Soon the dead are piling up in the morgue almost as fast as the snow on the streets, and Logan knows time is running out. More children are going missing. More are going to die. And if Logan isn't careful, he could end up joining them.

An extremely good 'read.'

We came to this book/ series via another series by Stuart McBride, the Ash Henderson books. We enjoyed them enormously, but as there were only three, we decided to try this series on Logan McRae (excuse the spelling). Different characters, but similar in many ways, portraying the Scottish police force in an amusing way, as well as being an excellent crime mystery. We this first book, and have now found a 'rich seam' of books to enjoy Very well read by Steve Worsley too!

Brutal, cold but captivating

Well read and a great story line. Felt I was there with the believable characters, the granite city and the weather. That’s me hooked on this series.

Story telling at its best!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook, very dark, but clever writing in every way. The narration was impeccable and I will listen to more by him, and the author. Just worried it’s going to cost me all my credits to continue the series!!
