One of the most significant books ever written by a head of state, the Meditations are a collection of philosophical thoughts by the Emperor Marcus Aurelius (121-180 ce). Covering issues such as duty, forgiveness, brotherhood, strength in adversity and the best way to approach life and death, the Meditations have inspired thinkers, poets and politicians since their first publication more than 500 years ago. Today, the book stands as one of the great guides and companions—a cornerstone of Western thought.

Translation by George Long revised by Duncan Steen.

This is a book with timeless ideas and philosophy on how to deal with the ups and downs of life. Marcus Aurelius writes with a wisdom that is more insightful and real than most of today's self-help life coaches.

Even though the work of Marcus Aurelius was written down millenia ago, its message is still valid today. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in philosophy and people striving to find purpose in life.

Philosphy of stoicism, as presented by the emperor of Rome, known as philosopher on the throne, is very simple and yet profound in its meaning. It should reach honest minded individuals who wish for a life of virtue, purpose and happiness defined by peace of mind, not affected by age, trialsome circumstances, unhindered by other people's opinions. This is a must listen. I've now listened to this book 2nd time. Narration is also very good and clear. Please give this book a go!

Excellent work - timeless message!

I really enjoyed listening to it, but am 15 years old,
so maybe I couldn't really relate very well.
The first 4 chapters where better I believe, as they were easy to understand.
But overall I didn't regret buying it, probab5 I would listen to it again when am older, I think I would be. get more value then.

I couldn't really understand the goal behind it
