As the year draws to a close and Christmas approaches, the girls must rely on each other to navigate the dark days that lie ahead....

With so much change, can their friendship survive the war?

A cosy read!!

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters are wonderfully brought to life by the very good narrator (who I must admit sounds a bit like Barbara Windsor at times!). I enjoyed the WW2 setting and characters storylines. I think it's a very enjoyable book for readers of a certain age, and especially for anyone who was a Woolworths worker in the 40s, 50s and 60s as I was. The author has obviously researched her subject very well.

Absolutely heartwarming and lovely.

A worthy sequel to the first instalment. Emotional, uplifting, funny and nostalgic. Just truly wonderful.

Sloppy Narration

I have read the previous book in this series and enjoyed it immensely. This book was my first try at audio books and i was disappointed at the sloppiness of the narrator who repeatedly swapped between talking about Slade Green (correct) and Slades Green (wrong). Picky i know but spoilt the story a bit. Wont listen to the next in the series, if there is one, I'll read it instead. Very good story overall.
