About this listen

When the silent spacecraft arrived and took the light from the world, no one knew what to expect. When the Overlords finally showed themselves it was a shock but one that humankind could now cope with, and an era of peace, prosperity and endless leisure began. But the children of this utopia dream strange dreams of distant suns and alien planets, and soon they will be ready to join the Overmind...and, in a grand and thrilling metaphysical climax, leave Earth behind.

A great audiobook, of a classic. Narrator took some getting used to, but was great by the end!

Great to hear

I like Clarke and his books. They are great stories sometimes. I absolutely loved his Rama books. Even bough the PC game of it. Childhood's end is a good book. It is a good tale. Leaves you thinking and asking questions as good Sci-Fi can do. On the downside, the story gets boring near midway. Waffles on a bit with pintless stuff. That said, stick with it. A good tale that doesn't give you all the answers you might wish to find out. Mr Clarke has done better to be honest but I still would buy his stuff far quicker than others.

Good classic story but wanders at times.

It lags a bit in the middle, but picks back up quickly as you start to lose interest.

Great Story, Great Narration.

Childhood's End is unlike most sci-fi, in that the pivotal moments in the story rely on phenomena which are left intentionally unexplained. It is best thought of as sci-fi with the feel of fantasy.

Good narrator, story slightly fanciful

A thoroughly chilling look at the possible transcend of mankind. I enjoyed it immensely.
