About this listen

No. 1 bestselling author Patricia Cornwell delivers the twenty-fourth engrossing thriller in her high-stakes series starring medical examiner Dr. Kay Scarpetta.

Someone is following you…
One summer evening in New England, two young girls stumble upon a body. Forensic pathologist Dr. Kay Scarpetta arrives at the scene to find a young woman has been attacked with almost superhuman force.

Someone is taunting you…
Meanwhile, people close to Scarpetta start receiving suspicious calls. Could they be linked to Scarpetta’s anonymous cyber stalker, Tailend Charlie?

Someone wants to destroy you…
A second death shocks Scarpetta to her core. Because analysis of the body shows a material that doesn’t exist on earth. And it’s clear that someone, or something, is coming for her, and is hell-bent on creating chaos…

Very slow start and does not pick up the pace till the last two chapters.
I love her books but not this one the story line could have been put into a couple of chapters. Very disappointed.

Not one of her bests

I only started reading a book start to finish. The Scarpetta series is the first that I sat and read fully and couldn't put the book down. I've just got the latest release 'Chaos'. If you are into Crime Novels then this will be amazing. Though I would recommend that you look up the order as some are 4 books as one story and jumping in on book 2 of 4 will be confusing

Love the series

The plethora of descriptive narrative seemed to last for ever. I almost sacked it off before the story eventually light up.
The book probably could be about 10 chapters shorter.
Perhaps I've been spoilt by the book I just finished last week, Blue Horizon by Wilbur Smith.

Have always been a Cornwell fan but found myself bored by this recent story. Thoroughly enjoyed her early books but feel there's less to the recent ones with a lot of time on incidental details.

Disappointed Chaos

Bearing in mind this took 13 hours to listen to very little actually happens. we do get to find out a lot about the weather ,the scenery and the fact that the heroine repeatedly can't see what is staring her in the face. I admit I shouted at the car several times . Get the abridged version. This was interminable.
