Critic reviews

"You don't analyse such sunlit perfection, you just bask in its warmth and splendour." (Stephen Fry)
"Jeeves and Bertie are as immortal as Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, or Falstaff and Prince Hal, and, quite often, a good deal funnier." (John Mortimer, Daily Telegraph)

Another great Jeeves audio book. Something light and enjoyable to listen to as you pass the time. Whenever I want something jolly and easy to listen to I turn to Bertie & Jeeves to lighten the day. Well read and very enjoyable. If you like to listen to old fashioned first world problems and laugh at the scrapes Bertie gets into this is for you

Good old Jeeves

Tremendous fun. The not very bright Bertie Wooster is very likable in his upper class foppish antics. And Jeeves is, well Jeeves. Not like any other literary character. An absolutely delightful audiobook.

Jonathan Cecil reads Bertie as the upper class twit that he is, but still in a way that you can't help but love him. And Cecil's narration as Jeeves is nothing short of fantastic. Dry, correct and very true to my vision of the perfect Gentleman's Gentleman.

Very good (sir).

The trouble with a lot of audiobooks is that they simply have the wrong type of voice for the narration of the particular book or the narrator simply can't narrate the story properly. The world of Bertie and Jeeves is a long past world of hereditary and decidedly, white, Anglo - Saxon entitlement and privilege written large .This is not a world of meritocracy and the unwashed masses, but the small world of the well heeled and socially well connected, English upper classes pre World War I / the early 20th century. This was a world of cheap, plentiful and economically vulnerable domestic servants, large country houses, lots of money and plenty of time for mindless idleness, socialising and partying amongst themselves. The narrator, Jonathan Cecil, comes from the same English upper class background as Bertie and also went to Oxford. He is therefore, perfectly able to get into Bertie's mindset and convincingly narrate the story and vividly portray all the other protagonists, but at all times with his tongue firmly in cheek ! This was a complete delight and joy to listen to and Jonathan Cecil's narration brings to life to P.G. Wodehouse's very English, mischievous, but worldly naive, school boy humour of a bygone age. Highly recommended.

A pure delight !

I enjoyed listening to the book, for the stories and even more for Jonathan Cecil's rendition.
Yet I have to point out that five stories in this book coincide with the stories in "Jeeves, My Man." I wish audible will find a way to solve this problem.

As enjoyable as all the other books about Jeeves.

Witty stories expertly performed by Jonathan Cecil. The perfect relief from daily life on planet Earth.

Pure joy
