Summary

On doctor's orders, Bertie Wooster retires to the village of Maiden Eggesford, but his rest-cure is interrupted by Aunt Dahlia, who wants him to nobble a racehorse; Vanessa Cook, who wants him to act as go-between for her and Orlo Porter; and Orlo Porter himself, who would tear Bertie limb from limb if he ever discovered that Bertie and Vanessa were once engaged. Throw in a dotty explorer, an unreliable poacher, an irascible father, and the stable cat, and the stage is set for a sublime farce.

Critic reviews

"Wodehouse's idyllic world can never stale. He will continue to release future generations from captivity that may be more irksome than our own. He has made a world for us to live in and delight in." (Evelyn Waugh)
"He exhausts superlatives." (Stephen Fry)

It’s muffled and pretty inaudible. Frustrating. I’ve purchased a different version and hope there’s a way to get a refund on this. It’s useless.

A waste of a credit.

Having read all pgw's books I thought I would get the whole set on audible. After 10 minutes I was so upset at the awful reading I gave up listening. It spoils the book. He cannot narrate . Never use him again

bad recording. unedited and full of repeated sentences. Davies is very talented but poorly edited in this volume. or rather not at all. audio quality leaves a lot to be desired. a lot of mumbling, coughing and other things which should be edited out
