Summary

Orphaned when his father, a powerful South Philadelphia mob boss, is killed in a car crash, Peter Flood tries to avoid the family business. His cousin Michael, however, seeks a career in crime. This is an absorbing narrative of fratricidal betrayal by the National Book Award-winning author of Paris Trout.

Critic reviews

"Gripping." (Publishers Weekly)
"Chilling....Dexter...is adept at portraying those on the fringes of the mob who are sucked into its fury. His characters are unsavory but convincing, his action vicious." (Library Journal)

Interesting Story

Pete Dexter has a similar style to John Steinbeck. This book did not disappoint. It was blunt, and thought provoking and raw at times.
