Auf einer ihrer nächtlichen Touren werden Max und Franz Zeugen eines Mordes im berühmten Hotel Adlon. Mit knapper Not können sie sich im Nebenzimmer der jungen Gräfin Romanowa verstecken. Der Täter ist ein Kommunist, der Tote ein Offizier einer rechten Freikorps-Brigade. Somit scheint für Polizeikommissar Paul Konter vom Präsidium Alexanderplatz der Fall klar. Alles deutet auf einen weiteren Fememord hin.
