About this listen

Kidnap and murder collide in Alex Barclay’s heart-stopping new thriller featuring FBI Agent Ren Bryce.

The only way to reach the end is to turn back…

When the body of FBI agent Jean Transom is found on the frozen slopes of Quandary Peak, the nearby town of Breckenridge, Colorado, becomes the focus of a major investigation.

A quiet, dedicated agent on the surface, it soon becomes clear that there was another side to Jean Transom. And who better to uncover it than Special Agent Ren Bryce, an expert in violent crime and a woman with secrets of her own; secrets that could compromise the entire investigation and put an end to her distinguished career.

Her boss, her informant, her colleagues, her ex – Ren needs to know who she can trust … because the last person she can trust is herself.

I can pretty much guarantee if I was reading this instead of listening to it, I would have given up about chapter 6...however, the narrator made the main character more appealing than she probably was on the page, so I stuck with it....despite the story! The first 3/4 of the book focused on one story, which I was actually quite engaged with, and then there was another 3 hours tacked on at the end that just went off on a couple of totally different tangents! I won’t be trying out any others by this author, but I will be looking out for this narrator in future!

Brilliant narrator...awful book!

Terrible characters, sooooo annoying, never got any better. avoiding this whole series now!
The lead character is just detestable, I'm an truly bored with this type of self-obsessed, zero emotional intelligence person being presented as great at their jobs, when in the whole story, everyday, she's patently rubbish at it.

There is not a single likeable character.
