About this listen

When Sienna Hegarty turns up at his family home one night, covered in blood and frozen in shock, psychologist Joe O'Loughlin finds himself drawn deep into her world, trying to unearth the dark secrets her mind has buried. The police find a major piece of the puzzle at Sienna’s house: her father, a retired cop, is face-down in a pool of his own blood, his throat slashed and his skull caved in. The blood covering Sienna was his.

The 14-year-old can’t remember what happened that night but, at the same time, Sienna doesn’t mourn her father’s death. What was going on behind closed doors in the Hegarty household? Is Sienna guilty of brutal murder? And what part has her charismatic teacher, Gordon Ellis, played in this blood-soaked event?

I have never listened to this author before. Bleed for me was so good. It covered some very difficult issues surrounding the crimes however it was so beautifully written with care and delicacy that you did not feel it voyeuristic listening about the subjects covered. I could not stop listening to the tale unfolding, all the characters involved, descriptive without being 'arty' and the fabulous naration by Sean Barret, who along with Saul Reichlin should be made to read all the books on audible due to there intonation and understanding of the characters they are portraying. I actually only picked out this book having read 'strattons war' also read by Sean Barret.

My only dissapointment is that the book is now over. I am off to see what else this author has written..hopefully read by one of the above!

A truly great listen

I love this Vincent Ruiz stories, and this one is no exception. He is the perfect ex policemen of old school. Good story and the bits set in war torn countries very believable. I am reading these books in order and if Sean Barrett is reading them that is a huge plus.

Excellent

Excellent story with the Prof & Ruiz leading the hunt for the killer of a retired detective. Fast paced & excellently narrated. Sit back and enjoy the ride!

I think the book itself is great.. But I found the tone a bit monotonous and tedious to listen to.

Interesting read.
