Summary

Bill Gates, more commonly known as the founder of Microsoft and richest man on the planet for almost two decades, has been defined by most people by the number that represented his wealth. We will not do that here.

We will, instead, look at the man beneath the public persona of mistaken assumptions and biased opinions to reveal what makes the man tick and what makes him do something that had never been done before.

Find out if a number of the prevalent myths about him are true:

  • Did he steal technology?
  • Did he get arrested?
  • What did he initially think of Warren Buffet?

These and a number of lesser-known facts of Bill Gates are presented here in detail with observations and analysis to help you unpack the complex life of a simple man.

Once you see the life he has lead and the skills he brought to the table, you should be able to find the same packet of ingredients within yourself and hopefully make your mark on this world.

We look at his parents and how they influenced his career, we look at how they raised him and the kinds of trouble he got into as a kid.

Bill Gates is a profound man who sees things differently and works at that with an energy that is uncommon. He is a genius by intellect and a highly focused individual who has no patience for sleep and wasting time.

Come on in and take a look at the life of one of the world’s most known individuals.

Don’t wait any longer! Scroll up and click the "Buy Now" button to learn more about the man behind Microsoft.

A glimpse at Bill Gates and Microsoft

This book "flows" easily and it does a great job covering the meteoric rise of both Bill Gates and Microsoft. Wish the authors would team up for a sequel. This is a well written and authoritative account of Microsoft and its founder.

Great book

Terrific book on what Gates thought about business, technical, social issues and more. Short bits and pieces of common sense and ethics. I first found this book in my friends phone. And I purchased it.

I knew the history of Bill Gates fairly well but I learned a lot listening this book. I am 20 years old, but the information is very good.

Inspirational!

This book is a must-listen for people who consider themselves ambitious and driven. It taught me the importance of single-minded drive and determination, coupled with a passion for the line of work one is in. IT is a tough line of work to be in - jobs could be outsourced anytime, skills become redundant quickly and there isn't the glamor or get-fabulously-rich possibility of finance or investment banking... but this book demonstrates that as long as you are passionate about what you do, there is always room at the top. Take heart from it!

This book will give you a great understanding

This book will give you a great understanding regarding how Bill Gates became what he is today. From the High School days with Paul Allen, developing the first Computer code for a PC at Harvard, the move away from the association with Altair , the move to Redmond, buying the DOS program and outsmarting IBM, it is an informative and fascinating listen .

I believe this book

I believe this book was written before the ubiquity of computers we have now and it shows in the technological ignorance of the authors. This, however, shouldn't detract from the quality of this book as a case-study in entrepreneurship and management. Gates may not be an example of your dream manager, but his experience is instructive for those seeking to strike their own path. Drive is the definite word here. The story of Microsoft is the story of one man's singular and highly focused drive to prove himself through his company.

Well, it showed me

Well, it showed me that Bill Gates wasn't as great as a genius as all he was spoken to be. He worked hard for 10 years before he started his software business, heck, I was hoping to see one does not have to "work hard". Book also showed he was an "addict", addicted to computer when he was just a kid. So, he falls under the category of someone who has the insanity of 'passion".

Terrible

I don’t usually leave reviews but after listening to this audiobook I was so disappointed that i believe the current 5 star reviews are very misleading. This book did not have much information on bill gates at all. It was simply the author’s opinion of what makes a good entrepreneur and then a very few miscellaneous examples to show why he feels bill gates has those characteristics. For example bill gates is not afraid of risk because he played poker when he was younger. This is an example of why he was successful. This reads more like a high school book report than a substantive book on bill gates. The book compares bill gates to other CEO’s with supposedly the same attributes and then goes into an autobiography of jack ma from Alibaba. Very disappointed and I would not recommend this book to anyone else.

Great coverage of the early years

If you want to listen up on Bill Gates, this is definitely the book to start with. The author does a great job balancing Microsoft's successes and failures. Each chapter gives insight in to why Microsoft is the monstrosity it has become. This book covers the history of Bill Gates. up to windows 3.0.

This is a must listen

This book chronicles the amazing journey that Bill Gates embarked on to go from a geeky high schooler sneaking into the computer lab at night to learn & write software, to dropping out of Harvard, launching Microsoft, working 24 hours a day, and becoming a multi-billionaire. If you enjoy listening book , this is a must listen.

Intriguing book

Very intriguing material, I couldn't put it down. I have a lot more respect for Bill Gates now, as a genius, as a businessman, and as an entrepreneur.

Pretty good

Provides a pretty balanced look back on Microsoft's history up until 1994-95. It's really cool to listen this now, given what has transpired since then. Gives great insight into just how driven Bill Gates is, and what he gave up to achieve his success. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is fascinated with the early stages of the micro-computer revolution.

Still relevant and thrilling

Although this book was written at a time when the authors found it necessary to explain what 'electronic mail, or e-mail' was, the insight into Bill Gates' life, methods and extraordinary success is timeless. It is hard to imagine much in this book is out of date, other than the estimate of Gates' wealth at the time ($4b). This is a well-written book and a fast listen.

My thoughts on the book

I have enjoyed listening this book very much. I definitely recommend this book. This was my first book on Bill Gates and the history of Microsoft, yet I believe this book to be the best on the matter. No wonder, it is rated five stars. The authors were not biased one way or the other. The fact that the authors had plainly presented Bill's life and his characters as they were helped me even more to get to know him better. Not only did I learn of Bill Gates and Microsoft, but also I was intrigued to listen about how other technology companies had dealt with Microsoft success.

The Real Bill Gates

A compelling tale of Bill Gates rise from a geeky, C-average college student, to a stealthy business man. He's not as innocent as he looks.
