Editor reviews

Editors Phyllis Irene Radford and Deborah J. Ross compile nearly 20 reimaginations of classic fairy tales and mythological folklore in this entertaining and wide-ranging anthology. There's biting political satire in Patricia Rice's "No Newt Taxes", while Pati Nagle turns Rapunzel into a modern-day heroine. The stories are often funny, sometimes dark, or, as in Radford's "Little Red in the Hood", both at once. Christine Williams gives a delicately wry performance, using the theatricality of fairy tale storytellers to subtly wink and provide commentary in ways that complement these modern updates of beloved fables.
