Great scientific detail - in background and methodology

Overall it’s a comprehensive but not overwhelmingly long dive into the art and predominantly science of brewing. Great for a scientific beginner, or someone who’s been brewing a while but wants to know a bit more about the science behind it.

I will definitely refer back to it for the instructional parts (eg cleaning, sterilising and setting up a keg) as these are easy to follow, simple and easier than scrolling a YouTube video etc.

[Two very minor niggles let it down a star for me - firstly the humours been mentioned by others (it’s unnecessary at best and crass/odd/completely inappropriate at worst - it’s not often so I can get over it) and secondly, the strange switching between imperial/metric (and dollars/pounds sterling) - as a UK brewer, it threw me in the early chapters, being in imperial, and then later on we are given all figures in imperial with a metric conversion. I get that it covers a worldwide readership, but in audio book form, it’s easier to get your head around if it’s one or the other, rather a mix or both).]

Informative & entertaining

I really enjoyed the book, it was informative and entertaining in places although a few corny jokes perhaps.
Well read and an easy listen. A lot of data, I will re listen to a few chapters with a pen & paper.
I brew all grain, but the extract book apparently has a lot of info which is helpful too.

Great for people who want to really get into brewing

This is a good comprehensive overview for people who have dabbled in brewing but want more in depth knowledge. It covers a lot of detail and is well presented. It’s an easy listen and even as an experienced brewer I learnt a few things from this book.

All grain brewing made easy.

This is another great book by the author who knows what he is talking about. like his last book if you follow his instructions you will end up with a perfect pint. This book tells you all you need to know about brewing plus things that you probably don't think you need to know like how many yeast cells you need but further down the line the knowledge will come in very handy.

All grain brewing

I've been an all grain brewer for a few years now after progressing up from extract kits . Although fairly experienced there are still lots of aspects of this book that can help and it also offers lots of knowledge to the inexperienced . Maybe a little to technical for my tastes but I'll certainly use some of the information I've learned.

A good read read/listen for all levels of brewers and some nice looking recipes to try or adapt

Great for first timers.

Would work best as a hard copy reference book. I am an experienced brewer so didn’t get a lot out of it. That said if you are new to brewing there’s a mine of information here.

Comprehensive informative book

This is a comprehensive book with a wealth of useful information, and some which is interesting but less useful (the process of storing, drying and processing grain was definitely a 'nice to know ' rather than a 'need to know!'). I would say it is more for all-grain brewers who are looking to take the next step rather than beginners as there is a lot of information which is more in-depth (e.g. decoction/step mashing which isn't something you need to do when learning). That said, it is easy listening and a novice will get a lot out of it but there are more basic books for those starting out. Also, as for the Audible side, the narration is fine, but it is something you will refer back to with a pen and paper to take notes if you don't have the paper version to go back to. I would say it would be better in book form as a reference guide as it refers to a number of lists and graphics which you can't see, but the Audible version is well worth having.
