A great tale with too much cut.

I enjoyed this audiobook and performance but the story has been noticeable cut. Certain events happen without context.

too much cut.

the novel was great, this is worthless. without the full text it loses coherence completely. way too many gaps because of being abridged. unfortunately, I doubt anyone will release a full audio version, but I'd rather put my phone down and read the novel than listen to this. a waste of credit/money

Completely worthless abridging

The performance is fine, but the book is so badly chopped up that nothing makes sense at all. There are MASSIVE gaps, and absolutely no coherence between chapters.

Abridged

Awesome story-whats left of it at least.

The whole thing feels fragmented and rushed with characters suddenly appearing and then getting forgotten as quickly as they came.

Reviewed notes with a friend who confirmed I had a fundamentally different impression of the plot and whole characters. Essentially this work is no longer in alignment with the original authorial intent, which makes it a failure of an abridged work and a hack job of the original text.

Had I known this was abridged I would have skipped right past it. Abridgment of a scifi novel written for entertainment purposes is not only pointless and counter to the desires of the reader but inherently immoral, comparable to ripping whole chunks of a printed text to burn. Then to turn around and sell the remnants, in this case without clearly communicating that it's an inferior, damaged version.

I'd suggest audible should more clearly label abridged works, but that would suggest they should continue to sell abridged versions at all.

I really wish I could listen to the full version of this production as what remains is genuinely engaging. Battletech is a compelling universe ripe for novellas and high adventure. Hopefully as the franchise continues to experience a renaissance, someone will notice the massive library of potential built up over the decades of publications, and record some *full versions* of these books.

Good, but wish it wasn't abridged

performance was good, if clearly dated. always loved the story, but it was a very short abridgement of the novel.

too badly shortened

if you ever read the book you know how badly this was edited. it feels too 2 dimensional and obviously missing important parts of the story. if you are a fan of Battletech, pass on this one.

Standard Political Scifi

Weird music at end of chapters.

Standard fare, but still a good book story overall.
