In Battle for the Woodlands, Walde and the other Reachers struggle to restore one of the last great Mothertrees, their only link to the being deep in the earth, while enemies range against them. OK if you like lots of description

I have several problems with this audio book. If you like lots of descriptive prose with lots of description of every thought, movement, scenery description then you will probably enjoy this book, but I prefer something with a bit more action. The story is a novel take on the fantasy genre, and well crafted, but it is sooo slooow. I'm afraid the narrator is not right for this book either. His delivery is good and clear, but he's just too old for this book. The main characters are in their early twenties, but Mr Morey's voice sounds like a 60-year old's. Nor is there much variation with the various characters' voices, and the main female sounds like an old Irishman in places. I did like the plot twist at the end though!

Fantasy at it's Best

This is the 2nd audiobook in the Greyling series and it's as good as the first.
It's very different to what I normally listen to but immersed myself in fantasy, you have the Reachers they are struggling as they get ready for battle to save the Mothertrees as without the trees the children would not grow and Wade finds out he is to be a father. Listening to this makes me feel like they are doing their bit to save the planet.
Well written by WK Greyling and narrated by Arthur Morey, both of which are new to me.

Another good fantasy novel

I enjoyed this second book as much as the first. The characters develop further as they continue to try and save the mother trees and learn more about what being a reacher means. Looking forward to the next book.

I loved this & previous book

At the close of this book, the audio version, I feel both exhilarated and exhausted, but still ready to go again if ever a third book is issued.
A new favourite author for me. If, like me, you like to be taken on a journey along with the story, you'll love it, because a journey is exactly where it transports you, and doesn't let you off until the final word. Book one was equally as good.
Marvellous narration. Couldn't fault it.

Great story! Make sure to read Book 1 first.

I accidentally read this book, Book 2 first and because of that, this story seemed to start of slow. Though once I picked up the characters and understood the plot, it really picked up and I thoroughly enjoyed the book!

Beautiful continuation of a magical journey

Part two was a different kind of journey than the first book with such character growth and development. Heartbreaking battles and internal struggles as well. That ending will! have you spellbound! I do hope there will be more in this series!!

great followup

Much like the authors previous series this could be made into many more books. Character development continued from the 1st book & the story was well developed & flowed in a constant but not rushed fashion. Definitely add this author & series to your listening pleasure.

A sequel that is as good as the first book

In this second tale, Walde may have found a home, but his journey to find himself continues. A sweet love story ( no worries here this is not a romance novel) the tough truth about war, the bitter consequences of adult decisions are masterfully woven together by author and narrator in this excellent sequel.

You'll want to continue with this story!

With the first book laying a wonderful foundation for this world where Reachers are in grave peril, as well as the Mother Trees, this second instalment to the story is probably even better.

We learn more about the true cause of the strife between the Low Landers and the Reachers; the significance of the Mother Trees and the critical and important link the Reachers have with them. We watch the battle for survival, the blossoming of a coming of age story and the ensuing love story. We also watch with bated breath, the Cursed Children and their challenges and rescues. My favorite theme in this book is the coming together of the people to do what is right. How it looks at the beginning of the first book is very different at the end. I am very curious where W.K. GREYLING takes the story in the next book. I do love when I am interested in continuing any series and this one does make me want to know what happens next.

Delightful adventure

I love how books by this author are always fresh and unpredictable. This book is no exception. It’s a charming continuation of the first book, Silver Light, and provides a satisfying end to the duology. On a side note, you can tell the author is very connected to nature and I feel like these would be great books to take to read on a camping trip.

Best series I've listened to this year

Wow! I absolutely loved this book! The storyline is original and unique. The moral and religious undertone is very well written, not forcing it's views on the reader/listener but definitely creating an awareness of right and wrong and the importance of preserving what's right.

I'm definitely hooked on this author!
