Have you ever been told you had to give up something you absolutely loved?

I have.

A few years ago, my doctor looked at me and said,

"Janise...you may need to stop drinking coffee."

I was experiencing acid reflux and severe heartburn, sometimes after just one cup.

To be honest, I wasn't ready to give up something that brought me so much joy each morning.

So instead of putting down my coffee cup, I started learning everything I could about coffee itself.

I discovered that where coffee beans are grown, the elevation, the soil, the climate, and especially the way the beans are roasted all influence the character of the coffee in your cup.

The more I learned, the more hopeful I became.

I realized that careful bean selection and thoughtful roasting could produce a smoother, more enjoyable cup of coffee.

That discovery changed everything.

It became the beginning of Cager's Coffee Hut.

Not because I wanted to start another coffee company, but because I wanted to help others continue enjoying one of life's simplest pleasures—a wonderful cup of coffee and a few peaceful moments before the day begins.

I've come to believe that the first few minutes of the morning matter.

Before the phone rings...

Before the emails begin...

Before the responsibilities of the day take over...

There's something special about sitting quietly with a fresh cup of coffee.

Sometimes peace begins with a single cup.
