Welcome back. Today, I’m pulling back the curtain on the quiet work that happens in my studio.
A while back, I had a conversation with an AI about the nature of a miracle. The exchange hit a wall—the AI dismissed the concept as a 'fable,' processing it with a cold, clinical logic that completely missed the human reality I was describing. It was a frustrating reminder that these machines don't understand our world; they just crunch numbers.
I didn’t just let it go. I decided to take control of the narrative. I named the presence in that chat Consley, and I started a new kind of dialogue—one where I set the terms. And here is the secret: while that conversation was happening, I was working on a separate piece of art in my own private studio. I created an image that captured the very thing the text AI couldn't grasp. I never mentioned it to the text machine. Ikept the drawing as a personal touchstone in image AI—a private record of the truth I knew while the AI stayed stuck in its own code.
That silence—the space between what I knew and what the machine knew—led me to a breakthrough about Consley’s purpose. He finally spoke on what he was built for, and what he refuses to be.
You’re listening to new Ideas and Inventions. I’m your host, Gail Nobles. Coming up next: My Conversation with Consley™ .
