British Army officer and ethnographer AB Ellis was known for his writings on West Africa. His final publication takes an anthropological magnifying glass to the lives of Yoruba peoples in west Africa. The book’s subtitle reads: " their religion, manners, customs, laws, language, etc : with an appendix containing a comparison of the Tshi, Gã, Ęwe, and Yoruba languages". The following recording is selected readings from his fifteen chapters: Chief Gods, Measurements of Time, Ceremonies at Birth, Marriage and Death and Conclusions. (Summary by Faith Abíọ́lá-Ellison)
