About this listen

Good evening. Rhode Island. I'm Aaron Jolly. Remember that dusting of snow yesterday? It's already fading. We're sitting at 25 degrees in Providence, 27 along the Bay. But don't get too comfortable. Fog creeps in after midnight. And freezing fog could make for a tricky Thursday morning commute. In the next 24 hours. Tonight brings a full moon, though you might struggle to see it through the mist. Lows bottom out around 25 degrees inland, 27 at the coast. Thursday tells a messier story. Rain arrives by 10 A.M. Statewide. Providence sees a 70 percent chance through the afternoon. The Bay gets soaked — 100 percent certainty by early afternoon. Highs only reach 37 to 38 degrees. That's 25 degrees below normal for early March. Here's the twist. Thursday night, that rain turns to freezing rain and sleet across northwest Rhode Island. A Winter Weather Advisory starts at 5 P.M. Thursday and runs through noon Friday. Up to a tenth of an inch of ice could glaze roads and power lines. The Friday morning commute looks slippery. Friday stays raw and gray. Highs near 35 degrees with lingering fog. But the weekend? Complete turnaround. Highs climb to 53 degrees Saturday, then 58 Monday. And 62 by Tuesday. We're talking 25 degrees above normal. Spring is whispering. Just two weeks until the equinox. In Sunrise at 6, 17 A.M., sunset at 5:40 P.M. We're gaining nearly three minutes of daylight today.
