About this listen

Good morning. Maine. I'm DJ Huzz. A narrow band of snow is sliding through southern Minnesota right now. and it's just barely clipping Iowa's northern edge. If you're near the Minnesota border — Estherville. Mason City — you might see light flurries this morning. We're talking under an inch. The rest of the state? Completely dry. In the next 24 hours. Step outside and you're looking at temperatures in the mid to upper 20s. Western Iowa starts coldest at 25 degrees. Central Iowa sits at 29. The Quad Cities wake up to 26. All under mostly clear to partly cloudy skies. Today's high temperatures tell an interesting story. Western Iowa climbs to 46 degrees — the warmest spot in the state. Sunny skies and a light southerly breeze get you there. Central Iowa hits 45 with mostly sunny conditions. The Quad Cities reach 41 under mostly cloudy skies. Eastern Iowa lands at 38 with partly sunny skies and maybe a few flurries between 8 A.M. and 10 A.M. — but most of you stay dry. Tonight, temperatures plunge. Western Iowa drops to 14 degrees. Central Iowa falls to 19. Eastern Iowa hits 17. The Quad Cities settle at 20. Sunday brings mostly cloudy skies statewide. Highs range from 31 in western Iowa to 36 in the Quad Cities. Southern Iowa has a slight chance of light snow — under half an inch possible. Most of the state stays dry again. Sunday night into Monday, a weak system tries to push north from Missouri. Southern counties near the border might see an inch of snow. Tuesday onward, everything changes. Southwesterly flow takes over. Temperatures surge into the 50s, possibly hitting 60 by late week. Rain moves in. Thunderstorms become possible. Spring-like weather settles in for the rest of the week. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. Stay safe, stay prepared. and enjoy the day.
