About this listen
All the talk leading up to this race was not the championship battle, but rather the horrific plane crash that David Coulthard had been involved in the week before. He suffered bruising to his right rib cage and severe elbow grazing, while sadly, Rangers FC Chairman David Murray (Whose plane it was) lost his personal pilot David Saunders and co-pilot Dan Worley in the crash.
Jacques Villeneuve was also declared fit to race. At the Brazilian Grand Prix, Villeneuve sustained a back injury after his seat became loose during the race, and the worsening effects caused him to withdraw from testing in Barcelona.
