About this listen

Thaden is built for running dungeons solo, but in order to progress past his current Level, he’s going to have to find some friends rather quickly…

After resolving all the pending SPECIAL Quests that had been plaguing him, Thaden is finally ready to evolve his Class, where he can then continue to Level-up past his current limit. Unfortunately, his current Evolution Assignment is proving to be a bit more difficult than his last one, as it requires him to complete one of the new Intermediate dungeons with a full Raid Party of at least 100 people without any casualties. Throwing money at the problem might’ve worked in the past, but now there’s a complication that makes such a prospect nearly impossible.

The rise of the Contender Guilds.

Thaden has had his run-ins with the Guilds in the past, of course, but while he had been away for a while, the Assimilation System has embraced these Guilds and incorporated them into its mechanics, legitimizing them past the relatively loose groups of Contenders they were before and making them official organizations – with specific Quests to go along with them. With Guild Quests including the completion of Intermediate dungeons and a Ranking system with ongoing awards, the competition is fierce – and no one is willing to risk their Ranking by taking someone not affiliated with their Guild along.

With these obstacles in place, Thaden struggles to find a Guild willing to accept him as a member, even if only temporarily. This is proving harder than it should be, as while his Class is undoubtedly powerful, information about it and the detrimental drawbacks it enforces on any party he participates in is now widely known.

Will he be able to find a Guild inclined to giving him a chance, or will this unaffiliated healer be stuck at his current Level, unable to progress any further?

Listened these 4 books back to back. Such a good series. Can't wait for book 2, <3

Love it

But this book has been way heavier on stats and system logs than any previous ones in the series. While I love stat sheets on paper, listening to them was not always the most interesting.

[Spoiler below]
And maybe it is just me, but the romance was a bit sudden near the end.
[Spoiler end]

Overall I still liked the story though, and will definitely get the next book too when it is out.

Still love it

The world building is good and the story is pretty good but instead of building up an investment into the story it seems more like at any time we could find that the MC was just dreaming all along.

- the narrator sounds like he is falling asleep.
- no returning characters, all interesting characters were introduced then never seen again.
- instead of having him partner up with an actual person he partners up with a random introduction to the story that is basically a female version of himself.
- THE SYSTEM NOTIFICATIONS. wtf man are you punishing the reader or narrator? if not for these extremely repetitive (and exceptionally annoying) updates the MC gets every second. it would have more than halved the total length of the books to leave them out.
- the use of inconsistencies to move the story along (or just to be inconsistent?)

that being said I think the author has potential and I would be interested in seeing a new series from the author cus the whole base idea was genuinely good.

nice idea but oddly written

explanation, spoilers and rant the lvl system for the spells seems "balanced" around him and not actually the normal support making it weird

like a normal support from lvl 63 to 189 is supposed to have greater strength for spells and the protection spells stop attacks up to lvl 150 so you cant use some spells to the lvl cap weird BUT even weirder is when support get superior spells at lvl 189 the lvl protection increase only to 180??? and they are supposed to have those spells from lvl 189 to 567 like wtf and at lvl 567 get excellent lvl spells that then protect 20 levels above affected player so for me it makes no sense.

but if you ignore that and just like the overarching story and him being op its good

Good if you ignore the specific lvl changes of spells

The first 3 books had a good story and an interesting system. This book though I have no clue what spells he can cast anymore and the basic premise from the previous books has been cast aside. here's your new OP class pick 27 new spells...I mean that's great and all for the MC not so for the reader.

The absolute worst part is the rewards page. endless achievements earned after each dungeon, each achievement constantly recalculating because of previous achievements. why can't it just give you the total? stopped listening after chapter 37 as there's only 4 hours left and I'm scared that may be a dungeon followed by more rewards.

Series takes a nose dive
