About this listen

The Soulmate is the most breathtaking, cat-and-mouse psychological thriller you’ll read all year! Perfect for fans of Freida McFadden, Gillian Flynn, Sweetpea and You.

It can be a fine line between love and obsession…

Holly believes in love at first sight, in spite of everything that’s happened in her life. Sometimes the thought that her soulmate is out there is the only thing that keeps her going.

Then she hears her favourite song. She’s drawn to where the sound is coming from, as if by a magnetic force. There is a handsome young man sitting at a piano. He smiles at her, and she feels that spark she’s always dreamt of.

He’s called Mark, she later discovers. And he feels the same. They both feel like they’ve been hit with a thunderbolt. But even though it seems like they’ve known each other for lifetime, the truth is that they’re strangers.

Because Holly has secrets. And so does Mark.

And one of them might just kill to keep them…

A cast of unlikeable characters in implausible situations and so badly written that I had to check out the author to see if she had written anything else or if this was a first novel. Her continuous use of the word ‘like’ (meaning ‘as though’ or ‘in the manner of’) grated on me so much that I couldn’t actually finish listening to the audio. And the cliches! I would not have been surprised to learn that this book was self-published. Where was the editor? This book should be required reading for every student of creative writing as an example of how not to write.

A pedestrian story badly written
