About this listen

Could a cold case hold the key to a brutal murder?

Spring 1930. In the quiet streets of Craynebrook, a sinister presence lurks in the shadows, ready to pounce on the unsuspecting women of the suburban London town. After every attack, the assailant disappears into the night, leaving behind no trace, no witnesses, and no clues for Detective Inspector Matthew Stannard to follow.

Until one attack turns deadly and a reporter suggests a connection with an unsolved local murder, opening up a new avenue of investigation which, Matthew hopes, will give him the lead he so desperately needs.

But with a long list of suspects and a dearth of tangible evidence, Matthew’s confidence in his ability to find the killer wavers.

Does the truth lie buried in the past? Or will digging into an old murder put other women at risk?

I listened to this with a free copy from audible.

excellent story, with crimes coming in thick and fast, and no suspects, then too many.

This series of books is well worth a look/listen

Excellent

I'm thoroughly enjoying this series. The family dynamics are really interesting and I'm enjoying the fact that no one is perfect, not even Matthew Stannard. The minor characters are realistic rather than just plot devices and the performance is very good too. I can't wait to devour the next installment

A really interesting story well told

This is another great listen from CK Harewood. D.I Stannard is on the track of a serial killer and there are plenty of suspects but twists and turns in the evidence make knowing which one is the culprit difficult. A nice twist at the end makes this a very good listen. Once again it is vastly different to most police procedurals set in the 1930's. Mike Langan's narration is excellent and brings the story to life.
I was kindly given a copy of the book by the narrator and leave this honest review voluntarily.

Great Listen.
