About this listen

'A relentlessly gripping, glorious epic fantasy - the exhilarating must-read fantasy debut of 2025'
Tasha Suri, author of The Jasmine Throne

A SONG OF REBELLION. A SONG OF WAR. A SONG OF LEGENDS LOST.

In the Nine Lands, only those of noble blood can summon the spirits of their ancestors to fight in battle. But when Temi, a commoner from the slums, accidentally invokes a powerful spirit, she finds it could hold the key to ending a centuries-long war.

But not everything that can be invoked is an ancestor. And some of the spirits that can be drawn from the ancestral realm are more dangerous than anyone can imagine.

A relentlessly gripping tale of revenge and rebellion, A Song of Legends Lost is an unmissable debut from a major new voice in epic fantasy, perfect for fans of John Gwynne, Anthony Ryan and Evan Winter

'A truly excellent debut, with a genuinely fascinating magic system, engaging characters and deep worldbuilding. A fantastic read'

I really loved this book there was a lot going on but easy to follow, I was interested right to the end. The only thing I hated was that I have to wait for the next book to come out, I can not wait will start second book as soon as I get my hands on it.

Interesting

Great storytelling of the kind that makes you sneak off, find excuses and even bargain with yourself so you can return to find out what is happening.

The story is complex and brimful of characters that an audience beyond the cis male teen can identify with. If you are lazy or stupid walk on, this is not for you. Otherwise use the character list provided and enjoy.

It has pace and flow and would be perfect for adaption as a TV series as long as they didn’t butcher it like GoT.

M.H.Ayinde’s debut sets up the Invoker Trilogy which is clearly going to be epic. Looking forward to the next books.

Really enjoyed this book. Really interesting world building, great characters and great concepts. I couldn't stop listening. It had a really Joe Abercrombie vibe but with a technological twist.
I would recommend this book so highly
