Summary

When civilization falls after an EMP strike, one man's desperate ploy to protect his family involves turning nature into a deadly ally against a merciless enemy.

In the aftermath of an EMP blackout, Don Morton battles through a world plunged into mayhem, determined to safeguard his wife and son at their mountain refuge. But as he navigates the lawless land to reach them, a chilling reality unfolds: a merciless cartel has set its sights on their hidden haven. With whispers of an impending siege swirling, the Mortons are catapulted into a high-stakes game of survival. Their last resort is a stroke of strategic genius: a calculated demolition of the riverbank to unleash a flood that could wash away their assailants. Yet, with such a perilous operation, one wrong move could spell disaster for everything they hold dear.

Bit more than a cosy survival

Normally I listen and read to what I call cosy survival stories, so not too violent and graphic. This one is about 90% what I would call safe survival but there are so graphic descriptions when the gangs get involved in some massacres.
Overall it was a good listen and I enjoyed the various family groups trying to get back to the homestead. Loved how they worked out the ending - poetic justice.
It was very well narrated and I could just listen to this narrator narrate a phone book she does narrations so well.
