About this listen

Always trust your very basic instincts or prepare for the consequences…

It was surreal returning to work after a sabbatical following the suspicious death of my best friend Livvy.

On my return to the company apartment, I was surprised to find Livvy’s replacement, Amanda Dowd, firmly entrenched as my new flatmate.

She’d seemingly appeared out of nowhere.

But something didn’t feel right. I felt on edge.

Everyone seemed to love Amanda, even my ex-Jayden was blinded by her outgoing personality and model-like looks.

Yet her desperation to become friends felt unnatural.

When I began to receive calls, photos and presents from Livvy, I became spooked. Someone was targeting me, watching me.

With my job, home and life on the line, I had to find out who was doing this to me and why.

I hadn’t caused Livvy’s death but still believed it was no accident.

Someone else was guilty and I had to find out who before I was next.

I wanted something easy on read and listen to and this delivered. The story is enjoyable enough if not for a few comedy plot holes. Audible performance I'm torn on, absolute 10/10 for effort and care but can be really annoying in a lot of places! Not enough to not recommend though.

Enjoyable thriller

Enjoyable listening

Narration is good but the story is highly unrealistic with a lot of unbelievable elements.

Just ok

I have to agree with a lot of the other reviews that the narration was really annoying. I have only listened to one other Gemme Rogers book And thought that the stuttering narration was down to the speed at which I was playing the book, but I soon came to the realisation that it was just terrible naration. Please change the narrator for any future books.

Terrible narration detracts from the story

I knew this narrator wasn't one of my faves (I've learnt this from listening to some other books she's read), but I decided to give this a go anyway as I enjoy the writer and thougt the story might be worth having to listen to her - I was wrong.

She reads so slowly that I had to up the speed to 1.5 just to get through it, and the way she reads really irritates me.

The story is ok, but I kept waiting for a twist that never came, and the end was a bit ridiculous: Having finally solved the "mystery" ater having a breakdown, having to take a sabbatical, and almost getting killed, Ria just lets it go, and no justice is done for Livvy. What wa the point?!

Meh
