Nach einer Lebenskrise zieht Eva mit ihrer fünfzehnjährigen Tochter an die Ostsee, um sich dort ihren Traum zu erfüllen und neu zu starten. Doch ihr Optimismus wird auf eine harte Probe gestellt, denn ihre Teenagertochter scheint Probleme magisch anzuziehen, und die Übernahme des örtlichen Cafés läuft alles andere als rund. Besonders der brummige Standesbeamte Jakob sieht die Neuzugänge im Ort kritisch. Dabei benötigt Eva für das Café dringend die Hochzeitsempfänge, um Geld in ihre Kasse zu spülen. Erst als Eva Jakob näher kennenlernt, erkennt sie, wie es gelingen könnte, seine harte Schale zu knacken. Aber dann geschieht etwas, das nicht nur Evas Herz ein weiteres Mal zu brechen droht...
