About this listen

Frances Ruffelle earned her first film credit at the age of 15 and won a Tony award at the age of 22. Over the course of her musical career, she has featured in Chicago, Les Miserables, Starlight Express and Joseph’s Technicolour Dream coat as well as many other classics.

She explains to Liz Taylor how her mother’s theatre school helped her from a young age to follow her passion and how a nasty case of laryngitis actually helped her secure a role in Starlight express. Frances describes falling deeply in love with each of her children but that once they had grown up, the need she had to return to New York to continue the career she had begun to build in the 80s.
