About this listen

A Warhammer 40,000 novel.

In a brief respite between wars, Gaunt's Ghosts find themselves facing a hidden killer on a newly liberated world.

Listen to it because....

Witness a never-before-seen tale from the confidential Ghost dossier, following one of the earliest deployments for the Tanith First and Only.

The story:

In the ruined border town of Vincula, the newly formed Tanith First and Only and their commander, Colonel-Commissar Ibram Gaunt, are assigned to enforce a permanent peace. However, this thankless police action will prove as dangerous as any frontline—something is stalking the Ghosts through the streets, and soon the Tanith First will learn dark secrets about themselves that will echo through their history.

Written by Dan Abnett. Running time 6 hours 8 minutes. Narrated by Toby Longworth.

Interestin to go back to and hear stories from earlier days of the Ghosts and what they experienced! 100% worth it if you are into the Gaunt's Ghosts series

Just happy to get more of the ghosts so probably bias in my reviews.
But cheeky little deppening of the lore surrounding the ghosts at the same time in this novel, I like it.
good little addition to the series, went by as quickly as they always do l, with the quality writing, fast pace and brilliant Celtic style narrating of toby longworth look forward to more in this series.
with the jump back in time was nice to revisit some old names from the ghosts past and hear from them again, like old friend.
highly recommended as always.

This was an incredible return to the earliest days of Gaunt's Ghosts with returning characters to-boot. The story is structured and paced exceptionally well and provides a deep, cultural dive into Tanith as a planet and people. Toby Longworth maintains his own high standard of character voices throughout and makes for a compelling short tale which reveals much about our favourite characters. The mystery at the end leads to many questions, hopefully answered in a second installment or in the greater Gaunt's Ghosts storyline as a whole.

Throwback for the First & Only

It was a joy to once again read of try again and his misadventures with the ghosts, a new role (at the time) for Gaunt and the Ghosts in counter insurgency and some very interesting lore about the history of Tanith
