Summary

Legendary story teller Stephen King goes into the deepest well of his imagination in this spellbinding novel about a seventeen-year-old boy who inherits the keys to a parallel world where good and evil are at war, and the stakes could not be higherfor their world or ours.

Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a hit-and-run accident when he was 10, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. Then, when Charlie is 17, he meets a dog named Radar and his aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from it.

Charlie starts doing jobs for Mr. Bowditch and loses his heart to Radar. Then, when Bowditch dies, he leaves Charlie a cassette tape telling a story no one would believe. What Bowditch knows, and has kept secret all his long life, is that inside the shed is a portal to another world.

King's storytelling in Fairy Tale soars. This is a magnificent and terrifying tale about another world than ours, in which good is pitted against overwhelming evil, and a heroic boy—and his dog—must lead the battle.

Extraordinary

I would never have believed I would be so absorbed in a story by this author but I couldn’t stop listening
He is a master of suspense but also a skilful creator of characters the blossoming of the relationship with Rador the dog and Charlie is beautiful
The weird terrible creatures Charlie encountered in Enpron were vivid and terrifying and the people who befriended Charlie were real and sympathetically described
The only real downside was the blasphemy which I hated
But thankfully that didn’t occur after mr Biden died
Lastly it was brilliantly performed how all the different voices were portrayed I just couldn’t believe They were extraordinary

Great modern Fairy Tale

I thoroughly enjoyed this book - not a typical Stephen King story but a real fairy tale with a SK twist!

The narration was superb and the characters were all so well written. A very predictable plot line - like all fairy tales - but it really hooked me in and I didn’t want it to end!

This book absolutely blew me away, not what i expected at all. A whole universe created which left me wanting prequels and sequels. Just divine. Well done Mr King

Another great from Stephen King story

I am huge fan of Stephen King and really loved this story. The story clips along at a great pace and has the usual good scary parts and humour. A great tale of good versus evil. It has that Dark Tower feel, but looking back on collection of books this one for me was just fab. In the end I hope there is another about this strange land he invented.
