MARIE CLAIRE 'BEST BOOKS OF 2022' AND FEBRUARY PICK FOR MALALA'S LITERATI BOOKCLUB
Yinka wants to find love. Her mum wants to find it for her.
She also has too many aunties who frequently pray for her delivery from singledom, a preference for chicken and chips over traditional Nigerian food, and a bum she's sure is far too small as a result. Oh, and the fact that she's a thirty-one-year-old South-Londoner who doesn't believe in sex before marriage is a bit of an obstacle too...
When her cousin gets engaged, Yinka commences 'Operation Find A Date for Rachel's Wedding'. Armed with a totally flawless, incredibly specific plan, will Yinka find herself a huzband?
What if the thing she really needs to find is herself?
'Hilarious, insightful and so uplifting' Beth O'Leary

Such a warm, funny and relatable book
(Jendella Benson)Funny, relatable, true to life and feel good book (without the cheesyness as it is very realistic).
It was a bit triggering as I can relate so much to it.
This book is relatable on every level and made me feel sad at times but so good, pointing out the importance of therapy and loving and accepting yourself first.
Even being a light skin girl. My mum and aunts are just as pushy for marriage and I have been compared to my sister from what feels like the beginning of times. Because I always felt like I don't have the looks. Also my dream career is very far from the African parents expectations and I am a 40 year old single.
Hats off to the author!
so relatable and true to life

Lovely story. Glad she didn't end up with Alex as she would have lost herself. Thanks Lizzie and Ronke
Loved It! ❤️

thank you for having someone who is Nigerian/of Nigerian heritage do the narration. Ronke captured the African Aunty and Yoruba sayings so well. It can be so irritating when you’re listening to a book that requires a nigerian accent being voiced by another African that doesn’t understand the phonetics.
I loved this book so much. It captures what many/if not most African 1st born daughter go through with their parents and extended families go through when they are approaching 30, unmarried and childless.
It also touches on the dynamics between cousins and siblings and how the pressure of getting married and popping babies out by a certain age can affect those relationships.
I look forward to reading more book by Lizzie. I’m trying not to give anything away. But stay away from men like Alex. Even me self, I’m angry at him unbehalf of Yinka.
A must listen!!! So relatable as an 1st daughter in African household. Give Lizzie and Ronke their flowers
