大富豪の祖父が残したものは、「お金」ではなく「９つの手紙」だった。
神戸から上京し、東京で暮らす大学２年生の主人公：佐藤敬（サトウ・ケイ）は、特に目標もなく、平凡な毎日を送っていた。
ある日、大富豪だった祖父：佐藤泰三（サトウ・タイゾウ）の遺品の中から、自分宛の「９つの手紙」が届く。
その中にある「お金の代わりに残すものは、人生でいちばん大切なものを学ぶ機会だ。手紙の内容を身につけることができれば、仕事の成功、十分なお金、よい人間関係、家族との幸せな暮らしも、きっと手に入る」という言葉と直感に導かれて、１通、また１通と「手紙」を開けながら、北海道～京都～タイのバンコク～チェンマイと、祖父の友人たちに「人生の秘密」を学ぶ旅に出ることになる。
やがて、主人公・敬（ケイ）は、「手紙」に導かれるように、幸せの国・ブータンにおもむき、ブータンに住む老人・プルパから最大の学びを得て、日本へ帰国する、学びと感動のストーリー！

・第１の手紙：【偶然】（偶然に起きることはないし、偶然に会う人もいない）
・第２の手紙：【決断】（決断した瞬間に、その未来は、同時に誕生する）
・第３の手紙：【直感】（直感こそが、最も正しい人生のコンパス）
・第４の手紙：【行動】（行動しない限り、人生は１ミリも変わらない）
・第５の手紙：【お金】（お金の大切さを理解した上で、お金との距離にバランスを取る）
