Critic reviews

Really clever concept and some great characters and twists. It's a real joy to read something totally original, smart and thought provoking.
Gripping from the start and full of surprises, this kept us up long after lights out (Isabelle Broom)
wonderful concept, ridiculously entertaining ... an absolute pleasure, the malevolence and impishness of a young Roald Dahl (T. A Cotterell)
fantastic ... I can't remember the last time I was simultaneously this entertained and this disturbed. The One is a clever story with great pacing but it's the characters that make this a standout thriller. (Hollie Overton,)
This will have you gripped
Brilliantly inventive thriller, The One is a must-read for anyone who’s ever braved the dating pool
Engaging concept, craftily executed (Adrian J Walker,)

This was excellent delving into people's vanities and insecurities using web technology to find 'the one'. Excellent narration and story lines but suspend belief

Don't look for love on the internet

It’s unfortunate that such a fantastic idea was dealt with in a soap type way. Very light and predictable .Also the male narrator spoke like he was speaking to a class of non English speaking 7 year olds very irritating!

Missed opurtunity

I absolutely love this book. The story is so different from anything I’ve read/heard with a wonderful disturbing dark side side . No spoiler alerts here but you won’t find traditional happy endings ..
The only really BIG BIG BIG downside is the voice of the narrator who reads Nick ...! Omg he’s atrocious ... gray gasping breaths sucked through his teeth at the end of each sentence and a very weird tone to his voice was very distracting and made me want to skip his parts .
If his part was Re cast and read by someone else I would give this book 5 star plus as I really enjoyed it . All the ends tied up neatly even if not how I expected or wanted .
A thoroughly good book , would be better read than listened to because of that that one narrator ‘ The One ‘ who spoilt it 😀

The One who spoilt a great read !
