About this listen

Do the impossible, or lose your family forever....

Edgar Hill, unsympathetic husband and halfhearted father, finds himself in a hopeless situation. Despite all his best efforts, he hasn't managed to keep his family together. In fact they are further from him than ever - 550 miles, to be precise.

And in a world near annihilated by a terrible disaster, leaving the UK harsh and brutal, uncrossable by car or bike, his journey to find his loved ones will be fraught with challenges.

His best option is to run. But what if your best isn't good enough?

Includes original music by Adrian J. Walker.

At first , i thought i could not continue with this narrator despite being a compelling plot. i have though spent 59 hours and the last 3 audio books in the presence of Scott Brick and there don't come many better.

I'm glad i persisted, the local accents being startlingly good , well the Manchester accent sounded like Liam Gallagher mimicking the Scouse accent!

The story , well read the reviews and believe the hype, it is really good and set in the UK. Not over gratuitous with the violence or bad language, so suitable for young adults.

And no Zombies thank god !

Great British PA fiction

I spent at least three quarters of this book getting irritated by the protagonist's whiny outlook, however, I was sympathetic by the end when he faces his own demons and realisation.

It's like a drama wrapped in an end of the world scenario, so I was relieved that it avoided any of the ridiculous zombie / outbreak type of plot. It was mostly realistic, analysing how people react differently to extreme situations, apart from the fact a man with zero running skills could manage to run 450 miles in total let alone 20 miles within the first day.

The narrator was excellent, attempting several different accents throughout. And there werr some great characters including old man Australian Harvey and female soldier Grimes, who blasted any stereotypes out of the water. While it is a long listen, it's pretty gripping throughout.

Tragic family drama disguised in apocalyptic genre

A wonderful performance, gripping story, great characters. Triumph and tears, love, loss and hope. Brilliant.

Amazing.

The book was also excellent, I very much enjoyed it but Jot Davies narration was one of best I've heard, might even be tempted to look for some more of his, something I've not before.

Excellent narration

This story has some brilliant moments, it made me reconsider what it is to live, love and be a modern father.

A great exploration of what it is to be alive
