This is a superb conclusion to Robert Harris's excellent trilogy about Cicero, brilliantly narrated by David Rintoul. This trilogy is so good I shall probably start listening to it again from the beginning very soon.

I was very sad to see Bill Wallace died before he could read this book, but after David got into his stride he filled those shoes brilliantly.
The book was fantastic and brought a tear to my eye more than once. 5 stars well deserved. Robert Harris I salute you.

This has been a wonderful journey. All good things come to an end. But a great story well told. Across three books there have been very few areas to criticise. Only save the understandable slight bias to the main character Cicero. Totally riveting, Robert Harris makes ancient history become totally alive.

Highly recommended!!!

The series itself was very enjoyable, although this instalment was a little weaker than the last, which I really put down to the narrative style that is, by its nature, lacking in action. This makes me wonder if I'd have enjoyed listening to it as much as I did, had I not been so interested in the subject... I will certainly now read more Robert Harris ☺
