About this listen
Brought to you by Puffin.
The House of Hades is the fourth audiobook in the bestselling Heroes of Olympus series, set in the action-packed world of Percy Jackson.
The stakes have never been higher. If Percy Jackson and Annabeth fail in their quest, there'll be hell on Earth. Literally.
Wandering the deadly realm of Tartarus, every step leads them further into danger. And, if by some miracle they do make it to the Doors of Death, there's a legion of bloodthirsty monsters waiting for them.
Meanwhile, Hazel and the crew of the Argo II have a choice: to stop a war or save their friends. Whichever road they take one thing is certain - in the Underworld, evil is inescapable.
Rick Riordan has now sold an incredible 55 million copies of his books worldwide.

What made the experience of listening to The House of Hades the most enjoyable?
Listeners need to know that this isn't the last book in the series (i know, the waiting is worse than Harry Potter!). If I knew that before I started, it might have been a little easier to enjoy! I kept wondering how so many loose ends were going to be tied up in such a short space of time...Anyway, this is a much darker book than the others. It has to be, as most of it is set in the unrelenting underworld of Tartarus. At times, I was reminded of the Tunnels/Deeper series, in which joy is hard to find. However, it was the little bits of fun and joy that made the book for me. We knew what the task was and how it was to be achieved, but Riordan managed to weave in enough interesting challenges along the route to enhance the experience. They didn't feel like a list of chores that had to be achieved either. It was nice to have Leo visit the mystery island that Percy visited a few years before. The revelations about Nico D'Angelo also made his character more well rounded and I look forward to seeing his character become a little more realistic in the next book. What was one of the most memorable moments of The House of Hades?
Bob and his little cat!Leo and ......?
Jason deciding where his head and heart lies.
The Tartarus Pizza bar.
Festus' gaining a whole new perspective on life.
Venice looks different through the eyes of a half blood!
It's difficult to give favourite moments without giving spoilers!
Would you listen to another book narrated by Nick Chamian?
Probably not. The good thing about the audible app is that you can speed up the voice. He was way too slow and whiney. He ain't no Jesse Bernstein (the reader of the Olympus series). His pronunciation of Gaia drives me nuts and it's easy to tell when he got tired during the performance as it is not consistent. He hasn't got Bernstein's sense of ownership and love of the story. If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Hell Hath No Fury Like a Half Blood Scorned.or Tartarus - Where Sarcasm is a Weapon!
Any additional comments?
This book is a little more formulaic than the others. Each person gets to go off and have a mini adventure with other characters, just like a team building interview exercise! It feels a little fake at times (what am I saying, this book is about demi gods!).Hell Hath No Fury Like a Half Blood Scorned!
