About this listen

It is 1940 and Britain is at war with Germany. In London, eighteen-year-old Susan Banks longs to do her duty. Her secret ambition is to learn to fly - to serve her country and realise her dream. Susan Banks dreams of flying Spitfires, and makes her dream come true thanks to a series of very fortunate events. Character developments are satisfactory, and the book is narrated very well by Freeman. This is a very easy going story, without any major twists and turns. Listen to it if you can put up with a few frustrating moments when you just want to slap the naive little girl into action! Come to think of it, the book probably is more of a teenager's cup of tea...
