This story totally suits Toby Stephens as it's very much a 'chocks away' dashing about saving the nation kind of a story and all the characters talk as if they are the character flasheart from Blackadder. It's lots of fun, and a bit stereotypical of girls being not allowed to get stuck in, and only the boys can race off and do survelliance and rescuing.

A spiffing, silly story

Very Flasheart from Blackadder

The original Dick Barton radio serials, though reasonably entertaining, always leave me with the sense that they are trying hard to imitate the style and humour of Bulldog Drummond, without quite managing it.

This story by Mike Dorrell (written in the 1970s?) contains all the usual elements of the genre - deadly peril, derring-do, a young woman in danger, and hiss-worthy villains - but is much better written than those original serials.

Narrator Toby Stephens, does a great job in bringing to life all the different characters and makes this a very enjoyable listen.

A good romp
